Qualifications required for the role:
Desired:
- Diploma in chemical/ Fire and safety/Mechanical
Essential:
- Diploma in Industrial safety recognized by State govt.
Total years of experience: 1-3 yrs. experience in industrial safety, manufacturing unit, chemical industries and preferably in process safety.
Job Purpose:
Ensuring industrial health & Safety of employees, contractors, and equipment at paint manufacturing unit.
Job Responsibilities:
- Training and Employee involvement:
- Conduct safety Induction program for all new entrants and continuous training programs for all employees working in the plant.
- Conduct Mock drills on Emergency situations
- Attend safety meetings in the plant and closing safety points of such meetings.
- Conduct Safety round and sharing observation report on daily basis
- Conduct and ensure Toolbox talk for all employees.
- Ensure safety communication arrangements through Displays, Safety Signs, In House Magazines, Safety Literature, Annual Plant Safety Performance Report etc.
- Involvement in safety goal/target setting, Improvement project, Safety Suggestion Scheme, Safety Promotional activities etc.
Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Ensure statutory inspection for all lifting tools& tackles and pressure vessels through third party.
- Conduct non statutory inspections for the plant
- Comply Polestar and GRC portal for legal & statutory compliance
- Participation in safety audits and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for points of safety audits
- Involvement in the process of hazard identification and risk assessment
- Conduct Job safety analysis for construction activities
- Involvement in statutory assessment of contractor from safety point of view
- Controlling contractors through regular monitoring, reward & penalty system, and performance review of Contractor
- Inspect all safety equipment and maintain them in good manner
- Ensure good health of safety guards, safety interlocks, hand tools and power tools in the plant
- Ensure 100% compliance with work permit system and safe isolation procedure
- Study and control hazardous substances in the plant
- Procurement and maintain personal protective equipment in the plant.
- Monitoring noise, ventilation, and dust in the workplace
- Inspection of electrical equipment and installation
- Ensure fire risk of hazardous area in the plant
- Ensure maintenance of firefighting equipment and documentation
- Ensure healthiness of fire alarm system
- Train employees on emergency planning
D. Safety Performance & Measurement :
- Report all incidents including near miss on inhouse online portal
- Ensure investigation of all incidents including near miss within specified timeline
- Maintain data of incident trend analysis
- Recognizing and Managing Potential Loss Areas
E. Workplace safety:
- Ensure hygiene of workplace
- Ensure safety display in the plant
- Ensure 5S in the plant
- Handling Fire Fighting system
- Risk assessment, HAZOP study, Factories Act, FMEA, legal frameworks for safety
- Interlocks and their operation, fire hydrant systems, maintenance of fire hydrant systems, fire extinguishers and their operation.
- Conduct BBS program in plan to build and improve safety culture
- Ensure BBS drives across the plant by creative way and engage employee and contractor workers towards safety culture improvement
- Budget management for Safety dept. (Revenue and Capex)
- Knowledge on Integrated Management System (IMS)

- Covering 100 % employees for induction
- No violation with permit / LOTO system
- 100 % reporting of incidents
- Attending assigned safety meetings
- Ensure minimum 2 TBT in a day
- Participation in assigned HIRA
- Training 1 man-day/ year
