Job Description


We are looking for a Social Media Strategy Lead to join our team at the AFR. The role will be responsible for developing and leading our social media strategy across all existing and emerging channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social media trends and be able to use data and analytics to inform strategy development.

Day to day you will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the AFR's editorial objectives and business goals.
  • Collaborate with the newsroom editors to turn breaking news and feature stories into engaging social media content.
  • Work closely with the Head of Audience Development to develop and implement audience acquisition strategies that drive engagement and subscriptions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging social media platforms and trends to identify new opportunities for the AFR.

Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of social media, including trends and platforms and the ability to reach a target audience.
  • Advanced digital production skills including copy editing, headline writing and story packaging. Image, video and audio editing skills will be an advantage, as will graphic design skills.
  • A strong understanding of social media, including trends and platforms and the ability to reach a target audience.
  • Creative flair to make content stand out in a competitive environment.
  • An understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Refined editorial judgment with an ability to identify digital trends and spot a trending news story.
  • Experience as a reporter/editor/producer would be an advantage, as would experience training staff in social media protocols and digital best practice.
