In this role you will have the opportunity to take on several responsibilities within Marine Coastal Engineering. You will support our team in business development, proposal management, project management, technical execution, and quality assurance of our growing project portfolio.

You will be located at one of DHI Sweden’s offices, with a preference for the Göteborg or Malmö office.

The role as Marine Coastal Engineer at DHI

Based on your personal preferences and experience, you will be able to craft the role description in alignment with DHI's goals for business growth and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out numerical modelling using MIKE by DHI suite of software
  • Provide specialist technical input to coastal engineering/modelling studies and/or EIA studies
  • Business development within field of expertise, assist in preparation of technical and financial proposals to secure new projects
  • Take the role as Project Manager (technical and financial) of coastal engineering/modelling studies
  • Perform QA within own field of expertise
  • Maintains project schedule and reports project status
  • Support regular client (external or internal) contact

Education and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline and/or civil/coastal engineering
  • Experience undertaking coastal engineering and/or numerical modelling studies, and/or marine EIA studies
  • Strong understanding of hydrodynamic, wave, morphology, sediment plume physics, and strong statistical knowledge
  • Experience with at least one programing language (e.g. MATLAB, Python)

Experience with Swedish environmental regulations and the MIKE by DHI suite of numerical models is considered an advantage.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Good knowledge of a relevant professional subject and interest in other subjects
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficiency in both Swedish and English languages
  • Professional writing skills
  • Able to analyse client requirements and identify and communicate suitable solutions
  • Enjoys working in team settings and contribute to the overall team goals
  • Willingness to take lead and to grow in the position
