Onshore Permit Manager [South Korea]

As our new Onshore Permit Manager, you will take the lead and responsibility for the onshore permit and consent elements on our offshore wind projects in South Korea in collaboration with the Development, EIA, and Grid teams. You will be a part of a team of global permitting specialists and report to the Development Director.

Your key duties will be to:

  • Responsible for execution of permitting strategy to ensure timely approval of onshore elements for construction and operation of offshore wind farm projects in Korea
  • Lead all aspects of the permits, consents, and assessments for the onshore elements of offshore wind farms in Korea including daily management of our specialist consultants
  • Manage and engage with stakeholders on all levels including local governments, government authorities, and local residents in close collaboration with the land acquisition manager
  • Participate in meetings with external stakeholders, such as authorities at all levels, NGOs, consultants, Universities, and researchers involved in the onshore permit and consent works
  • Manage onshore permitting consultants to secure primary and secondary permits for the construction and operation of the onshore elements of wind farm projects
  • Liaise with the engineering and design project team
  • Prepare documentation, decision papers, and reporting related to the planning of permitting and consenting process for the onshore part of the projects
  • Manage engineering companies and consultancies for permit-related works as agreed with Development Director
  • Provide daily ad hoc support to the development, EIA, and EPC teams on onshore permitting and environmental matters

Your profile:

You will have a suitable experience with more than 10 years of permitting or development of onshore renewable or infrastructure projects in Korea. We work in an international environment, and it is therefore essential that you can demonstrate business communication and personal skills and speak and write English and Korean as well as a great understanding of Korean culture.

As an ideal candidate for the position, you will have practical experience from similar permitting processes of large projects, preferably projects with both onshore parts or from a consultancy company in Korea. You have insight into the South Korean permitting procedures and preferably good relations with authorities at different levels and in different institutions.

Further qualifications for this position:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or similar
  • Experience with onshore permitting processes and highly competent coordinator and communicator.
  • A global mindset with an ability to communicate clearly and be responsive to local and remote sparring, inputs, and requests
  • Perseverance and an ability to prioritize and execute tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive and cooperative way of working and high attention to detail
  • Experiences in consenting and permitting works in Korea would be beneficial.
