People & Culture Coordinator Job Description

As the People & Culture Coordinator, you are responsible for working with the Ginger Desk leadership team and other administrators to assist with all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests. You must display outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The People & Culture Coordinator is expected to be a conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and time management skills. You will have excellent administrative and tech skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

To ensure success as the People & Culture Coordinator, you must display strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of employee relationships, staffing management and payroll.

Reports to: Director of People Operations

Minimum Hours: 40 hours/week

People & Culture Coordinator Responsibilities:

- Assist with all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
- Maintain both hard and digital copies of employees' records.
- Assist with the recruitment process by creating job posts, identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
- Assist with performance management procedures.
- Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events and maintain agendas.
- Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
- Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
- Assist with payroll and ad-hoc HR projects.
- Support other assigned functions.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

People & Culture Coordinator Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in human resources or related (essential).
- 2 years of experience as a People & Culture/HR Coordinator or Manager (essential).
- Exposure to Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
- Exposure to payroll practices.

Skills/Attributes Required:

- Effective HR administration and people management skills.
- Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Highly computer literate with capability in email, Google Workspace and related business and communication tools.
- Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a virtual environment.
- Works effectively both autonomously and with the team.

Organizational Responsibilities:

- Reflecting and interpreting Ginger Desk’s Vision, Mission and Core Values in their own work with enthusiasm and commitment.
- Acting in accordance with relevant legislation and company Policies, Standards and Procedures.
- Proposing changes within Ginger Desk that would improve service within the company.
- Developing and maintaining respectful, cooperative working relationships to contribute to the integrated, seamless delivery of Ginger Agency services to health practitioners across Canada.
- Problem-solving upcoming issues or challenges that arise.
- Ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and safekeeping of Ginger Desk records and materials.
