Make-A-Wish America is the national headquarters for our organization, providing resources and support for our Chapters around the country. This team is comprised of innovative nonprofit professionals who elevate our mission across the organization, focusing programs that are unique to wish granting.
THE ROLE
The Sports Relations Manager serves as the liaison between the entertainment industry and Make-A-Wish chapter representatives to manage the fulfillment of celebrity related wishes.
WHERE YOU COME IN
As the Sports Relations Manager you will:
- Research, cultivate, and maintain relationships with celebrity handlers, publicists, and community relations offices to support pending wish requests.
- Provide customer service to chapters and international affiliates to schedule wishes, plan the experience to fit the child and/or family needs, coordinate onsite support and manage wish experience expectations.
- Act as a liaison between celebrity handlers and chapters to determine what needs to be done to fulfill the stated needs (wish or non-wish).
- Plan and coordinate fulfillment of wishes involving primarily the sports industry, but also supports other areas as needed.
- Maintain information in Salesforce database and runs reports to review pending wishes, completed wishes, and general workload.
- Travel to various events and/or wishes planned to support and ensure all runs smoothly, fostering the family relationship as well as celebrity relationship management.
- Secure local volunteers to support events and/or wish fulfillments where personal attendance is not feasible.
- Ensure complete understanding of the wish family needs and wants, medical and/or mobility issues, and schedule restrictions in order to seamlessly fulfill the request.
- Assist in providing wish stories and pictures for various communication vehicles to enhance and/or increase the visibility of the organization acquiring the appropriate releases and approvals.
- Perform other related job duties, as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Event Planning or related field, preferred.
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience working in the sports or celebrity industry and/or event planning.
- Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office applications. Prior experience with Salesforce desired.
- Prior experience working in a non-profit organization desired.
- Position may require travel to organizational conferences and events.
