(Senior) Expert Forest Policy and Sustainability (f/m/x) [Austria]


 

Your mission

  • Coordinate and drive forest and forest products related sustainability efforts across Mondi Group in close alignment with the Mondi Group Sustainability team, local fibre sourcing organisations and our international operations
  • Support the implementation of our ambitious MAP2030 sustainability goals related to forests, wood, biomass and paper for recycling
  • Lead our fibre and biomass certification discussion by defining targets, track progress and initiate specific local and regional certification projects and initiatives in alignment with the Fibre Sourcing and Sustainability teams
  • Engage with international certification schemes (PEFC, FSC, ISO, etc.), third-party certification and verification bodies, and support further developments in line with our business requirements
  • Track international and national forest policy and regulatory developments, engage with relevant stakeholders along the forest value chain and coordinate compliance pathways
  • Carry out internal audits to verify conformity with relevant corporate policies, certification standards and legal regulations.
  • Develop and manage strategic sustainability partnerships and relevant stakeholder engagements across the forest and forest products value chain
  • Coordinate and participate in research and development projects with our scientific partners on national and international level
  • Further improve internal and external reporting on sustainable forest management and responsible fibre sourcing, conduct forest sector benchmarking and projects tracking
  • Manage specific consulting interventions on local, regional and Group wide level,
  • Participate and represent Mondi Fibre Sourcing in relevant internal working groups and external meetings

Your profile

  • Educational background: University degree in forestry (preferred Master degree)
  • At least 5 years experience in forest policies, sustainability and/or forest certification on international level, preferable within the pulp and paper industry. Operational experience in forest management would be an advantage
  • Sound understanding and insight on international forest policies and legislation as well as EU regulatory developments on wood, biomass and PfR (eg EUDR, RED etc.)
  • Good knowledge of the European and international fibre based industry
  • Fluent in English, speaking and writing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with multicultural awareness
  • Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility and mobility (up to 30% of international travel)

  • Duration: unlimited contract
  • Extent: full-time, 38 hours / week, all-in contract
  • We offer a compensation package starting at € 60.000 gross/year on a full-time basis (38 hours/week), with the opportunity of overpayment depending on your experience, skills and qualification.
